The word “Sigma male” was first introduced in the early 2010s by a distant blogger, Vox Day, who created a hierarchy of male personalities, Beta, Sigma, etc. Sigma means describing a lonely man working outside the traditional dominance hierarchy. Over time, internet culture, especially YouTube channels and Meme pages, adopted the concept and made it a viral personality type. At the end of 2010, “Sigma” developed into a discussion about a MEME and Gen Z -Millennials, especially on TikTok and Instagram. Despite its origin in the fringe, it is now mainstream, although its deep implications are still debated.
